Square was better
This was the first conditioner bar that I have ever tried and I fell in love with it. However, after seeing on social media the change in the shape and size of the bars, I won’t continue buying. The moon and bottom rounded triangle look uncomfortable to hold in ads I watched of the new shapes in use. I also don’t like that the square shape was 3.88 oz and the new shape is 2.1 oz but they’re the SAME price of $17…. For many curly hair types, conditioner is used more then shampoo and making the conditioner so much smaller (once again for the SAME price) does not make sense when other brands are sold for lower prices and both bars are the same size.
Ethique New Zealand
Thanks so much for sharing your concerns—we completely understand your thoughts on the updated shape and size of our Curl-Defining Conditioner.
Our bars were redesigned to improve ergonomics, balance, and ease of use, and while the conditioner size adjusted from 3.88oz to 2.1oz to clearly align it with our wider conditioner range (no longer marketed as a co-wash), each bar still provides the equivalent usage of approximately five standard bottles of liquid conditioner, depending on individual hair length and usage frequency.
We recognize this change might feel significant, especially regarding price comparisons. It's also worth noting that, compared to many other solid haircare bars on the market, Ethique is proudly palm-oil-free, vegan, cruelty-free, and uses a unique melt-cast method—allowing us to include 10–20 times more active ingredients than brands using extrusion methods.
We appreciate that you haven't tried this new shape firsthand yet—if you're open to experiencing it directly, we'd genuinely welcome your updated feedback afterward. Please feel free to reach out; we're here and happy to assist!
