Learn more about our mission.

Almost 200 million plastic lip balm tubes are binned every year and the vast majority are never recycled. So, we think lips need a shake-up.

We've created a range dedicated to doing good; for the planet, for people and of course, for your lips.

Do good for your lips - Pepped Up is our cooling peppermint lip balm formulated with cocoa butter and jojoba oil, for silky smooth lips. Moringa and castor oils lock in hydration and are packed full of vitamin e and fatty acids, to aid in moisture retention. On application of our lip balms, 94% of testers found an immediate improvement in the appearance of dry lips! Pepped up leaves you minty fresh, so you won't mind wearing your face mask.

Do good for the planet – plastic-free, home compostable packaging (yes, the tube!).

Do good for people - Carefully crafted with luxurious fairly traded sustainable ingredients from Rwanda, Ghana and Samoa to help support farming cooperatives (predominantly women owned) in these regions. Direct trade ensures that local growers receive stable prices and, reliable income which means in turn they are better able to look after their community and their environment.

Push (not twist) up base of tube (just a little!). Gently press onto lips, allowing it to warm for a few seconds. Then glide across lips for soft, smooth nourishment.

Pushed up too much? Give the base a light tap on a flat surface or the palm of your hand and the product will lower back into the tube.

Store at room temperature. Keep dry, away from moisture, and out of direct sunlight.

If stored somewhere cold, we recommend holding it to skin for a few seconds to warm it up so it glides on easily with application.

    Lasts a long time

I like both the peppermint and the neutral lip balms. They really do nourish my dry lips, last a long time, and I like the plastic free packaging. Win, win, win.

    My favourite

Pepped up is my favourite in the range. It has a pleasant tingle and goes on easily. The size is twice the usual amount of other lip balms

    Best lip balm

I ordered every flavor of ethique lip balm to replenish my stock. This is my favorite lip balm of MANY I've tried. Vegan, plastic-free, goes on smooth, and the container lasts a long time. Thank you ethique!!

    Not my favorite

The smell and peppermint oil in the product are very refreshing. It does have an odd texture that makes my lips feel dry.

Thanks for your review, Jacqueline—we’re so glad you enjoyed the refreshing peppermint scent! That said, we’re sorry to hear the texture didn’t leave your lips feeling as hydrated as you'd hoped.

Our lip balms are made with plant-based waxes and natural oils, and without petroleum or silicones, which can make them feel a little firmer—especially in cooler conditions. A quick warm-up between your fingers before application can help soften the balm and improve glide.

Thanks again for giving it a go and sharing your feedback—it’s always appreciated. 💚

    just okay

I like the fact that the products is primarily made of natural ingredients and has no petroleum products. I like the fact that it is in a paper tube that is compostable, however, I am learning the disadvantages to paper packaging as i am clumsy and inevitably there is water splashed or a drink dropped nearby and it either ruins the packaging or makes it look bad and makes me worry about where I keep the product. It was on my nightstand until I knocked over a glass of water there. Prior to that it was near my bathroom sink, but all the handwashing was putting it at risk there too. When I go for walks, it is a bit too large to put in a small fanny pack which already has to carry my cell phone, keys and readers. I find it just a bit bulky. I also do not find that it glides nicely on my lips, so it has some friction and requires more of a rub, which I do not like compare to my other lip balms, which are not in compostable packaging. I do realize that making products more natural and in compostable packaging might require different ingredients and this might affect glide. Overall it is okay for my needs, but for now I will continue to look for something better.

We really appreciate you taking the time to share this feedback. Creating plastic-free packaging is a big part of our mission, but we know it can come with trade-offs—especially when it comes to moisture resistance and convenience. Hearing how that plays out day to day is incredibly helpful, and we’ve shared your experience with our product team. Thank you for supporting lower-waste choices and for sharing such thoughtful insights. 💚
